2011 Unlimited Rubicon with 33s
OK, so my plans are ever-changing as I prepare to order a 2012 Rubicon Unlimited. I am working back a bit and I think I will hold off on the 35s with a lift and go with
33s initially without a lift. Will the 33s work OK without a lift? I had to weigh out the real use on the Jeep as primarily road with some off-road. I am in the mid-west and the off-road here is mild compared to out west. I don't see getting the 35s with all the changes that need to be made to handle those in addition to the added wear on the joints etc. if the 33s will roll without making changes. I can always jump to the 35s down the road, but I hate to buy at $35k Jeep just to rip out good stuff and add $6k in changes. So my question here is will the 33s go on without changes to the vehicle?
Thanks! A long paragraph for a short question!

33 will not rub with proper backspacing or wheel spacers
Any 33 inch wheel 285-70-17 if you are using 17" wheels and I have experience with BFG KM2 and Goodyear Duratrac will not rub if you buy aftermarket wheels with proper backspacing of 4.75 or 4.5 inches. Or if you like your stock Rubicon wheels you can still mount the 285-70-17 on them but to guarantee no rub at full turn you should use 1.5 or 2 inch spacers. If you go with the stock wheels option you can install them without the spacers, some people get away with using washers on the max turn stop bolt and this will keep it from rubbing and if not enough then you can add the spacers later.

if running 33s at stock height, i would not disconnect the swaybar while offroad. I rub my 33s with a 2.5 budget boost, so i would imagine that you would be rubbing very badly while flexing at stock height.
