Default 2011 Hard Top Better?

Just wondering if anyone knows the 2011 hard top to be better insulated?

I have a 2010 and park outside. It's been -35 overnight for a while now and my hard top freezes up pretty good. I have a layer of ice on the windows on the inside and ice pellets on the inside of the roof as well. I'm gonna take a heat gun to the inside to get some visibility back tonight.

I sat in an 11 on the weekend and the panels look like they are thicker, its definitely a different top and wondered if anyone that lives in a colder area noticed a difference from the older style?

I did not have the older style but I do have an 2011 hard top. I live in Akron OH which it goes down to about 10 at night and sometimes colder. I have not had any ice on the windows or ice pellets on the inside of the roof at all and my JK is parked outside all night. No complaints here!

I don't think anything is going to help in -35 degree temps unless you park inside a garage with some kind of heat.
I couldn't even imagine -35 degrees.

-35?? You don't need a better insulated hardtop, you news a new place to live!

In All seriousness though, no difference between '10-'11. I can't imagine installing insulation panels will guarantee no more ice at those temps, but would make for a warmer cabin while driving around in cold weather.

Hi murdoc13
I'm also from Winnipeg (Anola) and My 2010 JKU is also park outside 24/7, 365.
and I don't have any ice inside my Jeep!

One thing that I have to mention, always make sure that your hood is clear of snow when your rig is running, if you don't, you will have a massive fogging inside that will freeze, and it's hard to remove when it's cold outside. (scraping?)

Same tops on 2010 and 2011. No insulation. but you can order it and install
yourself.

Thanks for the advise everyone. I will check the hood, I'm pretty sure it's clear but I know isn't always cleaned off properly.

I'm going to tackle it tonite with a heat gun just to get some visibility back. I have a garage but it's not insulated and is full of crap right now so I'll have to try and remedy that this summer.

I saw that the tops are different but I guess just asthetically.

Yeah, -35 is pretty stupid but its what we Manitoban's have to deal with.

I have a 2011 jku and park it outside 24/7. No problems with ice inside and am impressed with the heat it throws out, I thought it was going to be cooler inside.
