It is much better than what was in there. Has lots of power now! Haul ass? No. It is a jeep not a mustang. Worth it? I had to replace the engine (see pics) so in my case it was. To just chuck a perfect engine to put it in? I wouldn't have. I used the AEV kit and it was not too hard. Cost about 15k to do it myself. Sure does turn heads now!

Well it's in.... a 2012 hemi 5.7 with 89 miles on it,,,, I used Todd's kit from Jeep Speed Shop, JSS.... EVERYTHING WORKS!!! EVERYTHING!.... and yes, it hulls ass!!! it absolutely lays wast to my f150 5.4 triton, my sons 5.3 chevy truck, the new dodge durango,,, just WOW... and Todd has been amazing... always there to help with any question and his kit is near perfect.... he has done an amazing job with every aspect of the conversion including how well the computer works with every knob switch and readout... a snap ring came off in the transmission.... computer blew a code, light lit on the dash... read the code, fixed the problem...my 2 sons did the swap, they are 19 and 21.... took about a week for them..... jeep sits about an inch lower from the extra weight. i would never ever ever go back to a V6 anything.... I will put together a video on a new thread showing the install, talking about it and showing how the jeep performs... it is a blast to drive

In 2009 I chucked a perfectly working 3.8 with less than 14k miles on it for a V-8.

It was worth it then, and is still worth it now. I loved the JK functionality but had never owned a vehicle that was so underpowered outside of 4-lo. Maybe a current 3.6 with a supercharger would be good enough now, not sure. No reason not to make it into what you want if one can afford it.

Nice job on your install.

I totally agree with this statement. I converted my JK to a V8 last summer (due to a crack in the back of the block that was dripping coolant onto the clutch). I went with the GM LSx platform, but fully agree that a V8 swap transforms the JK from a slug to an enjoyable SUV. It's no sports car, but the difference in performance is definitely worth the $$.
