Default 2007-2011 performance with 285/75/17 Toyo AT2 Extremes?

What are others with 2007-2011 JKU's experiencing going from stock tires to Toyo AT2 Extremes in 285/75/17 size. Please don't provide info on MT version or other tires/sizes.

I have 2010 with 3.73 gears, automatic, 3 inch lift and not looking to regear. I also have an SC Flashpaq. They weigh in at 63lb (15lb increase from BFG MT KM1 @ 48lb) which isn't light, but doesn't sound ridiculous at this size. Also a somewhat narrow tire which should limit additional wind resistance at highway speed.

Any specific experience with this size, model, and setup would be helpful. Sounds like these are a hot tire and size at the moment so hopefully this will help others considering to make the move.

There is no P rated version in this size, only E which equates to the Extreme version and E weight rated. It is a significantly different tire due to tread and sidewall design. These are the tires I'm interested in.

I have that tire. I went from the stock 18" wheels with stock tires to 17" wheels 285/75/17. I have a 2009 Sahara auto and had just slight power and brake loss. I think I lost about 1-2mpg and speedo is off 3mph at around 65mph when using the gps. My spare fits by using a $12 5/8" wheel spacer from AutoZone. I love these tires ride nice at 31psi and are quiet. My only regret is that I wish I went with the 35X12.5. Although my tires are wider than stock and look great the performance loss was so little I think my jeep could handle 35s. Did I mention I went winter wheeling recently and these Toyo's were did great.

Awesome info, great looking jeep. I think the 34" x 11.5" inch is a perfect size and really digging the AT2. That tire is going on next week, just wanted to work through last minute concerns and your info helped. Did your 1-2 mpg loss happen when you upgraded the tires or combo of tires and lift? I'll have to grab that 5/8 wheel spacer...looks like it sits perfectly on the bumper which assume should help relieve some weight. Already have 1.5" spidertrax for the other 4 wheels.

I went with those exact tires and absolutely love them. Great look, quality ride, very little noise and apparently they last forever! At this point, my only regret is not getting the 35's instead... these are effectively a 33" tire. If you aren't running a bumper/tire carrier, I would look at getting the MBRP Spare Tire Reinforcement Kit as well. I'm glad I did.

Thanks. Your equipment list shows you have 4.88's. If that's true your gearing is better equipped to minimize performance loss with the additional size/weight of the tires...compared to my 3.73's. Unfortunatley every tire measures smaller in real life than stated...I know it measures larger than a stated 33" and smaller than a stated 35", which is what I was going for.

Correct!! The spare rubs on the bumper just enough to give it some support. I have a Sahara son I have that silver cover not sure if it will rub without it. It's hard to judge my mpg because I did not use a procal so my mileage computer and odometer are a bit off. These tires measure 33.1 in real life they look way taller than my friends 285/70/16 coopers. Good luck!!

Just wanted to correct myself. The size of the spacer is actually 5/16 NOT 5/8. Here is a picture.
