Default 2" lift, Flat Fenders, 37" tires... Bumpstops!!

So, here is where i'm at. I've got a 2" coil spring lift (proper lift), just added Smittybilt flatties. I can literally stick my head in my fender between the top of the fender and the current 33" tires I have on there now. My initial inclination was to swap to 285/75R18's (35X11) when my 33's wear out; which won't be too far out. I wanted to keep from having to buy wheels but wanted to move up in tire size. I'm already running 4.56 gears. But, after pricing that size tire, which isn't a common size, it's pretty darn pricey. I'd be set back probably around 1500-1600 dollars for 4 installed.

With all that said, I can get 4 of the tires I have now in a 37 for 275 bucks each. (1100 bucks) Then the price of 4 wheels with the proper back spacing i'm right at about the same amount of cash. So i'm humoring the idea of going to 37" tires instead of the 35's.

The question is with bumpstops. The Rancho lift came with bump stop extensions, which work perfect with the 33's. I figured with a 35, and after adding the flat fenders, i wouldn't need to change anything, I.E., stopping the tire in the same spot should be good with the added clearance. But, with 37" tires, what are you guys thinking on the bumpstops?

Knowing what bump stop we all run won't actually help you. Too many variables like shock length, the amount of clearance, wheel bs change your needs. To get in the ballpark take the change in actual tire height above the hub, and go from there. After you've ball parked (or if you want to skip that step) cycle your suspension and add or subtract bump stop as needed.

Yep... exactly this ^^^... best bet is to cycle the suspension with the tire/wheel combination in place. There are plenty of folks running 37s with 2" lifts, but I think they use lots of bumpstop and some use a body lift in combination. LOTS of folks run 35s with 2" of lift (me included) with minimal bumpstop, but I'll tell you that my bumpstops measure different than it will for you than it will for the next fellow.

Yeah, that's the trick, I've got the 2" lift as well as flatties. Getting another set of bump stops is easy enough, I was just brain storming. If I go that route, I can install the tires and do the old ramp test to see what happens. I was just hoping maybe someone had the same set up as me. thanks guys

With 37s and flats I am running 2 hockey pucks or 2" bumpstops in the front (I notched my frame). In the rear im running the 2" rockkrawler bumpstop because they angle forward. I trimmed a lot in the rear and also moved my axle back 1/2". You will be fine with a 3" bumpstop in the rear but you will still have to trim

I have a similar setup,1.5" RK springs with 36 13.50 iroks ,3.5" backspacing on the wheels. On the front I have 2" bumpstops and the rear a 1.5" bumpstop.I have zero tire rubbing.I started with a 3" bumpstop in the rear but was always bottoming out,so went to the 1.5" and trimmed the sheetmetal up to the spotwelds around the wheel well.I also have trimmed stock fenders.Hope this helps.

I run a simple Teraflex 1.5" leveling kit with 35x15 KM2 and still stock fenders. I got the teraflex bump stop extensions and I've had no issues.

I really like the LCG look on the jeep

I went with one of the adjustable puck setups. Simple to add/remove bumpstop height.

As these guys have said, you basically need to physically measure to know for sure.

Have you checked out that thread of planmans yet? He has a ton of info about lift size tire size bumpstop size trimming amounts etc that he has personally done in the past. That would give you a bunch of info on this setup.
