My oe 2.8CRD lasted only 186k km, not modified. That's pretty shitty for such an engine.. A single rod bearing was completely gone, the rod got hot and I've achieved a nice clunk every time the engine turned. A horrible sound!

Complete new engine for a dodge nitro is about 4800€ here in europe.
