2.5 inch shocks on stock 2012 jk 2d suspension
Title says it all. Is it a bad idea to throw on my 2.5 inch teraflex 9550 shocks on my stock suspension? I will get a lift in the next month or so. But can I do this? will it be a bad idea to go wheeling this way?

I've been driving around with shocks made for 3" front 2.5" rear for a few weeks now on my 2dr(My OME springs will be here next week. ) I currently only have 3/4" front coil spacers but haven't had any issues bottoming them out on road. I think offroad you may bottom out the shock before hitting the bump stops, but I haven't fully cycled the suspension to confirm that(just took measurements on remaining up travel of the shocks.)

Onroad, you should be fine. Just stay away from taking big dips at speed. Offroad, expect the shocks to bottom out before the bumpstops touch, so you might end up destroying one or more. Just depends.
