Default 2.5 BB vs The "Crappy" Lifts

Hello all:

I have a new Jeep Wrangler 2 door sport and want to throw a 2.5" lift on it with 35's. I cannot stand non lifted jeeps. (personal preference). Here is the problem: I just bought a house so my cash flow is essentially zero.

I have done my research and the consensus remains the same when it comes to coil lifts. TF, RK, AEV, Old Man Emu. Those seem to be the front runners. Unfortunately I cannot do any of those right NOW. My question is this....

What is better for a short term lift (1-2 years).

2.5" BB w/shock adapters or a Skyjacker/Rough Country/Rubicon Express/ (Insert non premium brand here) 2.5" Coil Lift with Shocks?

I have a 40 mile roundtrip commute but ride trails/beach on the weekends.

Something to think about is that all rock krawler lifts are upgradeable. The 2.5" stock mod is 549$. Then when you get more money you could upgrade some of the parts. http://m.quadratec.com/products/prod...pid=16189+2001

Nothing wrong with a pucks and shock extensions. Coils may handle added weight better (bumpers/winch/armor/the in-laws), but doesn't sound like you have the extra funds to be going wild loading it down anyway.

Budget boost gets my vote. I have the teraflex 2.5" with shock adapters, rear trackbar bracket, bumpstops and brake line ext. Paid $250 shipped from member new in box. When the time comes (after wedding), ill throw 2.5" coils and shocks of my choice in, and go from there. In the meantime however, I have no problems with blue and black trails

I would love the stock mod, but would need another 300+ in shocks putting it close to 1k.

Will the 2.5 BB with 35s looked stuffed because I have the crappy Sport OEM springs?

Go down to JK Show & Tell. At the top is an index. In there you will find a whole section dedicated to 2.5" TF lifts, and another section with all 35" tires and various lifts.

You should find plenty of pics to give you a good idea of where you'll end up.

Why not buy a set of coils and springs from a JKU Rubi with max tow, etc? That could give your JK up to 2 inches and a much better ride. Then you could just trim the flares and put on 35s.
Just something to think about that is rather inexpensive and probably better than a crappy lift.

Not at all. Teraflex 2.5" BB and 35x12.5x15
Km2s. Didn't rub with full fenders either, but I just don't like full fenders

X2. The Teraflex BB will do the job fine.
