I think droop or downtravel has as much to do with it as the actual lift itself while sitting on the ground. Make sense?
No, I am not following what you are trying to say.

Your point is stupid, and makes no sense. You have several inches between the exhaust and the drive shaft at ride height.

I did, I still don't see your point. Are you saying the driveshaft is going to melt or something because it is closer to the exhaust? Adding 2" of lift causes the drive shaft to move about 1/4" closer to the exhaust at ride height, not really a bit deal and if using stock shocks will only droop to the same point as a stock jeep therefore the driveshaft will be no closer to hitting the exhaust then a stock jeep.

Do you need 5.5 inches of lift?

Cut the flares or go to flats.
Body lift.
Coil spacers or taller coils (plus - caster correction, driveshaft(s), steering correction, brakelines, bumpstops, axle centering, etc, etc...)

Don't mean to high jack, but can anyone help me out.....I have been changing my build lately en route to a new axles, long arm and 37s. But just found out I need another surgery and am gonna be out for another 6months! So the $ is not gonna be as available and the build will have to be on pause. I have a 2013 JKU with a Teraflex 2.5" coil/shock lift. I just picked up a set of 8 Teraflex Flexarms and 1" spacers (front/rear). So it should give me 3.5", but Teraflex doesn't have lengths for the Flexarms for 3.5". Just for the 3" or 4".

Will be purchasing Fox resi shocks 4-6" and was thinking about going to Synergy 3" springs. Any thoughts on this?

My main concern though is if I stick with the 2.5" + 1" spacers, Can anyone help me figure out what length I need to set the arms to for that setup?

Any help appreciated.

I would think you would be okay with either.
I have a 2.5" lift but stock arms. Some people get longer ones.
with a 3.5" lift, id imagine you could use either 3" or 4" lift compatible arms. And the Teraflex 2.5" nets closer to 3" anyways. So if you're adding 1" spacers id say go for the 4" arms. Make sense?
