I am hoping to order some Nitto Trail Grappler's this week for my JKU. I have a 2.5" TF coil lift. I cannot decide between the 295's or 35's.
Specs from Nitto website:
35x12.50R18, E rated, 35.04" tall, 13.39" wide, max load of 3415 at 65psi
LT295/70R18, E rated, 34.57" tall, 11.73" wide, max load of 4080 at 80psi

Any insight? Pros? Cons?

I went with 35 12.50's. I like the wider tire.

Daily driver? If so and a lot of paved miles.....go with the narrow tire.

Mine is a DD and I used to have wide Nitto Terra Grapplers (325/60R18) and it literally took both hands on the steering wheel all the time or the tires would take the steering wheel from you.

So, I ditched them and went with the 295/70R18 Trail Grappler for two reasons: 1) taller tire than my old and 2) narrower tire. Now I can drive with one arm again and enjoy the ride. The 1/2" difference in height between the 35" and the 295 is ignorable plus the tire is (I recall) $50 or $60 per tire less expensive. I got a set of five delivered to my door for $1,305 and that is a great deal.

Added bonus: you can mount the 295 on your stock spare tire carrier and then carry a real spare tire.

My more practical side says 295, but as good as the 295's look kabookie's 35's look great.

Kabookie, how is the handling? any of the control issues mentioned?

Go with the 35's. My friend runs the 295's and they look real narrow from the front and back

I am having the same dilemma, I just picked up my new deep cherry 2011 JK sport last week, no mods yet, but thinking 2.5" teraflex, 18x9 ATX artillary teflons with 35x12x18 terra grapplers. seeing Kabookies I sold me on it until the other poster mentioned the improved handling of the 295s. hmmmmm what to do.

Everyone is right here. I am a Daily Driver and see 95% paved road. I like the wider tire look and i wasn't worried about weight and gas milage. I wanted the wider tire personally. They are not out of control. THey do tend to follow ruts in the road, but its not uncontrollable. I would think the 295's will do the same to an extent. I can drive down the road one handed no problem. However, i had a Ram 1500 and noticed the same thing. I just got use to it over time.

I got nitto grapplers 35's, they technically measure just a smidge over 34 with a tape measure go with 35 size
