Default 18 inch stock rims with 295/65/18

I am thinking on keeping my stock 18's and thinking on a more aggressive tire. I am thinking on some duratacs, at 295/65/18's. From what I read, I would have to run 1.5 spacers, is this correct? But the main question I have is, how does it ride? Its there any shudder running spacers? And are there are issues with running that wide of a tire with the stock rim? Or should I just think on buying some new rims?

I just put spacers on Friday and they ride like stock! I will go with 325/65 r18 on stock as I have seen many with no issues.

you are gonna run into three problems.

(1) you will need spacers. 1.5" spydertrax worked for me. Eliminated all rubbing. They ride like stock, I can't tell they are there.

(2) you will need to trim (or remove as in my case) the front air dam. It can be pulled off, kicked off, popped off, or just trimmed.

(3) Spare tire will need to be addressed if you rock a full size spare.

I love the stock sahara rims, so I went with them and got 295/70/18 Nitto Trail Grapplers. Couldn't be happier.

do you have stock height? I'm fairly certain you will need some type of small lift.. Level Kit or BB to run a 34" tire. I guess it depends on the 295 duratrac and how big it is.

I just ordered a TF leveling kit, so that will go on this week. So the spare will not fit the current carrier?

You shpould get an extender bracket for the tire carrier then you should have no problem fitting it

You may want to also pick up the Daystar Tailgate Bumpstop Extenders if you go that route to secure the tire snug.

The tire may weigh too much though, some people experience popped welds and cracked tailgate parts due to the weight.

I am running this setup until I can get a full rear carrier

Interesting, thanks guys. I will have to look into either a bracket or replace it altogether.

Scrappy, I like the set-up. Jeep looks good. I have a black unlimited as well. I like the look of the stock rims and definitely want to keep them. Do you have a lift or is that the leveling kit?

I run 325/70R18's on my stocks. I have a 3" lift, but ran these tires even before the lift. I have spidertrax adapters and the only rubbing I get is at full lock, it barely touches the sway bar. I don't have the front airdam so I don't know if that will interfere. I love the look, but found I need to beef up the steering stabilizer as it tends to 'grab and shift' when I hit un even pavement. With that said.. I'd do it all over again. I run the same size spare, and it barely hits the bumper when I close the tailgate. Will invest in a used spacer soon, but it really isn't needed.

Thanks, thats what i wanted too. Spent a lot of time looking at setups. I have the Teraflex Level Kit. Does 2" in rear and 1" in front. Perfect for what I wanted to do.
