Default 17x8 or 17x9??

Ok little confused here maybe u guys can help! I have a 2011 jeep jk 4 door and I put on a teraflex 2.5 suspension lift. I had plans to order procomp 7089 rims 17x8 4.5 backspacing on nitto trail grapplers 35x12.50r17. When I went to order this setup from discount tire direct the guy talked me into the 17x9 and 4.75 backspacing 'with 35x12.50r17. He said it will fit and look better and swore no rubbing at that jeeps are his thing and he was 100% right. If done some research with this backspacing with people having rubbing issues!! Did I make a mistake or will I be ok with rubbing???

Your own research has found evidence of that specific combination rubbing, but you are asking us if you made a mistake?

Just because a certain wheel/tire combo rubbed or didn't rub on someone elses jeep, doesn't mean that yours will or won't rub. Who knows. It will depend on how much actual lift 'you' received from those coils. And the actual measured size of the specific tires you chose (since there are both height and width differences between mfg's even with the same stated size). And how perfectly centered the axles are. And ...

Personally, I would have gone with the 4.5 backspace, but ...

I woudve went 4 1/2 B.S. I really doubt they would look any different and 8" will hold the bead better when aired down.

The 9" wide wheel pushes the tire out 1/2" more then the 8" wide wheel due to the ballon effect. A wider wheel will allow you to run a larger bs.
