What about 315/75R16? Nice diameter-sidewall balance and plenty of options. At least that's what I'll do when my 265/75R16 are due for replacement.

I'll use KM2's for example. I'd go with 35's and 16's for $10 more a tire that only weigh 2 more lbs a tire. My 2 cents.

Default Not sold on 35s

I'm still not sold on 35s. I would LIKE 35s, but I can't believe they are only $10/2 lbs per tire. I guess it depends on the tire and tread.

Would 35's with wheels with proper backspacing fit under my stock suspension? I won't be lifting it for a little while.

I've seen other threads where other owners have suggested that running 35s with a 3.21 diff would not be a good idea, especially for a DD.

I'm leaning way more toward the 33's, maybe 34's, but that might be pushing it still. Looking probably at Duratracs. I'm still trying to research the right tire. Getting feedback from other JK owners helps.

If you are concerned with budget/mpg/3.21 gears and not lifting immediately I would recommend going with 285/70R17 Duratracs (or something comparable) on the factory 17" wheels. Most people with 35's seem to prefer 4.10-4.56 gears. The 33's will work just fine with the lift you are planning. Going too big on the tires and not being able to do the rest can make for a rough time until you can. Just my $.02.

For what it's worth, I run 35's and 3.21's with my pentastar and I dd 50 miles plus a day, 16-17 mpg if you keep it under 65

Agree with this. 35's are great, but if you don't really need em for the wheeling you do, might not be worth it.

33s on 17s is to small you won't have enough sidewall

Wow, you're hilarious. I take it this spawned from your comments on the 35's on 20's thread....

Yes, let's use KM2s for example. Run a 285/75, which are perfect for the factory 17x7.5 +44 offset, and have no rubbing for a DD

Have you completely ruled out 15's? Cheaper route especially if you like the 33's

I did the duratracs in 33x12.5x15. Great ride for a mostly DD but still a solid set-up for weekend fun
