Assume a 4-door w/37's and 4" lift. Average wheeling once or twice a month.

Realistically, why would I need the stronger 1350?

Most experts say you don't need a 1350 unless you eventually plan to install a Hemi. There is just not enough power coming out of the stock V6 to worry about using a 1350 - unless you just like overbuilt stuff.

Also beware that when you beef up on part, you will be creating a weak point else where, I rather break my U-joints than Ring, pinion, TC and etc...

1350 would be needed with modded 9", 14 bolts, D60 and etc app.

Any brands not recommended. So far it looks like woods, JE Reel, coast, teraflex, rubicon express all make shafts. Has anyone heard anything bad about any of those?

That is exactly what I think. It is so much easier to change a u-joint on a trail than anything else that will break. I don;t want crap u-joints that fail often, but I dont want them stronger than axle components.

I have. But the guy was expecting his gears to go out on him any time soon, so for some odd reason... he brought all the tools and spare ring and pinions with him on the trail instead of do the repair before the trip. He even have a spare tranny, and tranny parts with him in the back of his yota...

The Rubicon Express shafts ARE JE Reel. RE just sells them. Those, and the Tom Woods are the most popular, but I would imagine all are good.
