1310 or 1350 u-joints?

1310 will be strong enough, but 1350 would be bullet proff. The main question is what do you want to be your weak link in your drivetrain. most people want it to be a u-joint on the drive chaft since they are easier to replace on the trail.

I'm not so sure that your u-joint still wouldn't be the weakest link. The 1350 will certainly be stronger, but think about the gears you're talking about and then the u-joint. It seems to me it would still be the weakest link. Anyone have real data to refute my assumption?

litlejon is right. You want the weakest link to be a u-joint and not a cog or gear set in the transfer case/transmission or ring and pinion. I question those who run the 1350 u-joints with the stock transfer case/ transmission. bullet proof is not always bomb proof. I have seen way to many grenade a transfer case, transmission, or rear end because they were running the wrong u-joints, i.e. to beefy. The 1310 series u-joint are a perfect match for a replacement drive shaft with the stock drivetrain in the JK.

I dont agree. We have sold thousands of 1350 rear driveshafts for the 2004-2008 rubicon and nobody is breaking ring and pinions, Transfercase's ect. The driveline is still not as strong as those items. The transfercase in the JK is a very good transfercase. The only time we see failures of the transfercase is from colision's.

Its good to see this argument finally going on, I was talking to my buddy the other bad about this and his opinion is that there is no fault in overbuilding your jeep. I dont think that he is completely correct. I agree that overbuilding is good but only in some places. With this argument between U-Joints I think that 1350s are great for 37s and up. But if you are running 35s u can get away with 1310. U want to have your weak links be the cheep parts up if the rest of the driveline is strong enough then y put yourself in the position that u are risking blowing a Joint every time you go wheeling.
