Default '13 JKU auto w/ 3.73 gears w 35" tires ??

Can a fella run 35's w/o re-gearing w/ current 3.73 ratio and automatic tranny.

All the info on the FAQ says need at least 4.10 to 5.88 for 35's & 37'z.

I'm assuming that was before the extra 80HP in the newer motors.....

Thoughts, opinions, experience appreciated...

This is what I'll be running soon. For 35s it should be fine (read that as "livable") with the 3.6 motor (approx 2000 rpm @ 70mph), 37s would need a regear.

Yes. I run 34's with 3.21's and manual. Perfectly fine for flat areas. If I was a big wheeler I'd regear, but it's fine for trails and beach driving. The new engine helps a lot.

Yes, all day long, highway, off-road, rock crawling, you name it. I read the same stuff; maybe my opinion is skewed because I don't know what I'm missing with a higher gear ratio, but I'm running the same set-up you're discribing on my '13 Rubi and I'm quite happy.

You have the advantage of 4:1 low tho. I have 35's and 3.21 manual. It's livable on the road and livable offroad, but kinda sucks when you had to crawl in the rocks, lots of stalling. After swapping in a 4:1 transferase, no troubles offroad. Still regearing to 4.10 or 4.56 in future, but no rush

To the OP, you'll be fine, but you'll want to turn overdrive off and get a Procal to recalibrate the larger tires

I don't believe on 12-14's you can turn the overdrive off.

I am running this setup on my new 2013 JKU. Tires are closer to 34" ( Duratracs), but the power and mileage are both more than adequate. Could it be better with 4.10s? sure, but there is a cost benefit question here. Not worth the cost in my opinion. No option to turn off OD either, but there is no reason to do so. Combo is fine.

I was just wandering if you ever went to 35's, and if you were happy with it?

I have a 14 Rubicon with 3.73. Running 35" Nitto Trail Grapplers that measure 34" aired down to 28psi. Using ProCal for tuning.

Its fine in town. It's not ideal on the highway. It will downshift to 4 just to hold 70 if there is any kind if incline or headwind. IMO, 3.73 isn't enough gear for 35s (34s). Mileage bites as well.
