'12JK D44 3.23's to 4.11's questions
so I got a headache... a massive one... I got a pile of parts and I'm not sure what I can use.... XJ D44 was a lot simpler when it came to parts and choices and combinations...
So to start with: I have a D44 (stock) JK with open diff and 3.23's. I would like to go to 4.11's. I have in hand D44 4.11's part number 2007773 . It looks like those gears came from an '11 JK - 4.10 2005117 2007773 1/2" 44-4.10-4-2 http://www.tomsdifferentials.com/201...Pages89-94.pdf
My dillema is the carrier breaks on the JK D44.... Am I correct in saying that there is none and it's all R&P "controlled"? Which would mean that as long as my ring gear bolt size is right I'm good to go? Or am I missing something obvious?
This takes me to my next question - if there is no carrier break on the JK D44.... can I take a TJ 3.73 case, open up the Ring bolt holes to 1/2" (that's what my ring gear has) and use it??? The reason I'd do it is that the TJ case that I have has a trac lok in it in a decent shape which for now would work just fine for me....
