0W-20 Mobile 1
I put my 33 inch baja claws on this week. Tuesday I added mobile 1 0W-20 and a mobile 1 extended guard oil filter. Today when I got in my truck I heard a knock for about 3 secs on startup. I did some searching on here and the oil filter seemed to be the problem. So I changed the oil filter to a new fram extended guard I had. Hasn't knocked since then. I added some more 0W-20 to compansate for anything I lost. Is 0W-20 good oil? I thought it was, but I am having second thoughts. Any advice would be appreciated.

You can send a sample of your used oil to a lab (i.e. Blackstone Labs) and they will do a PPM (parts per million) analyis on things such as wear metals, dirt, anti-freeze, water, etc.

It will knock until the oil system fills the top end. filters have a check valve the prevents te oil from draining out of the top end. when you change the filter all of the oil drains out of the top end. nothing to worry about unless the knocking doesnt go away.

Two ways to get oil in your filter:
1. To fill it up as high as you can
2. Make the engine crank over without starting. To build oil pressure.
I would not use such a low viscosity engine oil. I know it's synthetic but you will notice a few things happen eventually. You will get more oil consumption, and you will get fuel resisdue earlier in you oil. It's just impossible to keep such thin oil from penetrating around the rings. The tolerances on these engines are not that tight.
If it was minus 30 then it might work, but I would stay with the same viscosity in synthetic.
