just remove the inner shift boot no harm no faul. your peace of mind can be fixed by also noticing that nothing will really get up in the interior of your rig after such a drastic rmvl has been finished. just pop the "top" assembly back on when your done. or toss a set of 2.5" springs and go home happy as a clam......

Hope that " trick " helped !!! I am late to the show , but I installed the MORE BL and even put the stock inner and outer boot back on and have had NO trouble at all with it !!!! I live in South Louisiana and it has not been nearly as cold as you have . I do remember them telling me when I bought it that the INNER boot may have to be discarded to ellieviate any problems !!!!
