To chime in on the shift-boot issue...it's -30 Celsius here right now (-22 F) and I have not had any issues with my shifter popping out of gear.

it must vary jeep to jeep, mine popped out the first night and once going over some railroad tracks but i've wheeled it pretty hard and had no issues. was going to trim the inner boot but may not unless it starts to happen again. that must suck, can imagine being at a stop light and a car full of hot girls pull up next to you. light turns green and GRIND or pops out of gear and you redline the tach. i've heard of people bending the shifter somehow.

I keep thinking someone will go to the salvage yard and yank one of those thin leather boots from an old camaro or something and toss it in.

If you don't want to slide the body back use a zip tie to keep the inner boot low on the shift lever...that will also keep it in gear.

The fix is simple and free...it works. I've done it as well as others
