WOOT! RE 4.5 long arm on 35s in the making!
My original plan was to wait for the summer (summer $ > winter $) to get the lift kit on along with the tires and wheels. However, on one fine afternoon, my (FREAKISHLY GENEROUS) dad decided he didn't like how much room the boxes were taking up in the garage and that he would pay for the lift to be installed as my birthday/Christmas present!
After looking around a bit, I eventually had the lift installed by a nice shop right next to my workplace since I already kind of knew them (they gave me an awsome deal). The process went really smooth......at first.
In my excitement I totally overlooked the fact that the stock tires and wheels (with 6ish inches of backspacing) are NOT compatible with the RE 4.5 long arm and that I needed wheels with 4.5 inches of backspacing. My dad, however, compomised that if I payed him back in the summer he’d loan me the money for tires and wheels!
It feels a little surreal to know that before the weekend my Jeep will be a completely different animal!
my mechanic called me up when he had the tires on and asked if I wanted to see what the whole package would look like…....I was there before he hung up the phone
..just finishing up the reinstalation of the exaust..
I should have taken a pic of the undercarriage but it looked like all that was left to do was install the fuel cell (and put the gas back in), drive shafts, and then perform an alignment. Sooo Clooose!!!

I think we have till May 1st before we HAVE to have the studs off. If you don't, that's how a lot of the cops catch you........they hear them. It's a HUGE fine too if you get caught.

Sorry for the threadjack Otari
Dave, I still got the Jeep down here but I'll be flying up and driving around in the wife's Nissan. Actually, I was just up for Thanksgiving and had a good time...ok back to the regularly scheduled thread
Otari, The studs should get you around nicely but make sure you get them off when the time comes. The cops love to bust folks for studs on their tires. Discount tire on here offered me a killer deal to have tires shipped but a close second was Costco if you need something for the summer.

Anchorage Daily News actually posted an article up a while back:
"Remove studded tires by Saturday or risk fine

State law requires that studded tires be removed from vehicles by Saturday. The law prohibits studded tires between May 1 and Sept. 15 north of 60 degrees latitude, which includes Anchorage and Mat-Su.
Vehicles south of that latitude -- including Homer, Kodiak and Southeast -- normally may not have studded tires starting on April 15, but due to spring snows the state extended that date to May 1 as well.
Driving with studded tires when they are prohibited is punishable by a $50 fine. "
Thanks for the tire recomondations, ill check them out! 5 months should be plenty of time to make enough for some summer tires before i start the process of reimbursing my dad with the summer job.
