I've always viewed battery blankets as a marketing ploy, like Valentine's day. But I don't even have a block heater for the winters here in Anchorage.

Exactly. Unless you have a high compression hard cranking Diesel engine at 60 below, the battery blanket is a waste of money. The CCA on your stock battery is more than sufficient for our lil 3.6's. your battery will NOT freeze unless its dead already. As far as the tranny pan heater goes, the fluid will warm up while the vehicle idles. The whole purpose of the block heater is to keep the oil viscous enough to lubricate the engine quickly upon startup. No such need for a transmission. BUT if you really want to spend the extra dough, by all means go for it.
