Default Yet another DIY hard top hoist

I set out to build one for $50.

...I ended spending almost $60, not too far off budget!

The pieces cut, ready to weld:

...after adding some hardware from Lowes:



+ a $17.99 ratchet from Harbor Freight



The entire rig:



I plan on cleaning things up (paint it, etc.)

I also plan on adding some straps for long term storage - I wouldn't trust leaving it up on a little nylon rope for too long!

Great job! I've been thinking about doing the same thing. I take it you like it or would there be anything you would want to change? Also the hooks are they damaging the hardtop?

Nice hoist good idea putting that together.

I wish I had some welding skills I would be building everything under the sun.

Awesome, I did something similar but spent a little more and got the electric winch to lift the top. I like the rubber bumpers you used to protect the top, I used foam pipe insulation, but your setup looks a lot cleaner. Are those stick on?

I need to go get these parts before next spring then I just need to get a buddy to weld it up for me! Nice!!
