It does matter which line you use......Here is a PDF straight from the Holley site.

http://www.holley.com/data/TechServi...g%20Charts.pdf

It shows all ow the different ways to install a transmission cooler and when using the factory cooler in line, using the RETURN line is clearly the correct way. I'm not gonna argue with Holley.

That's exactly right. The factory cooler is piss poor at best as a heat exchanger, since it's made INTO the A/C condenser which is hot as HELL all the time. By passing through the aux cooler first, you're probably getting a little lower temps back at the transmission because now, you're using the factory cooler as a "backup" instead of as the main cooler. I can post instructions from Holley, B&M, Earl's, Flex A Lite, Summit, Jegs, and on and on and they will ALL say when running the factory cooler in the system to route the aux cooler using the return line. All those folks ain't stupid. There IS a difference in which line you use. Also, there's a difference in HOW you install the cooler. You want the aux cooler's OUTLET to be positioned at the TOP so that it will have to fill with fluid from the bottom up. This will ensure even distribution and result in better cooling.

Guys,

Dumb question, but how do you add the transmission oil? I've connected everything, I was just about to plug into the trans oil line and began to wonder where would I add the trans oil afterwards.

Thanks for your advise!!!

Thanks tkob!!!

So I'll just add the ATF4 oil in the same tube where I take out the reading stick? I just installed the auto tranny cooler in this writeup, have you done it and if so, how much oil did you put in?

Thanks again
