The ding you got for no apparent reason is probably the "mystery ding" that seems to be common to the JK.
I was not familiar with the "mystery ding". I feel much better now. Thanks

Has anyone used the o'reilly's tranny cooler? I don't know the brand but saw the kit for $60.

1. do i check the tranny fluid while its hot? or let it sit for a while?
2. where is the tranny oil insert spot? i see the dipstick. but idk where the actual insert oil spot is?
Check the fluid level with the engine/transmission warmed up, engine idling, on level ground, transmission in park after running the lever through all the positions.

Top it up if needed. Fluid goes in the dipstick tube, with a funnel.

i think on autos if im not mistaken to check the fluid level you have to let it idle and put it in neutral e-brake on of coarse

Just follow the instructions in the quote above yours.

For the 42RLE, the book says Park, the dip stick says Neutral.

I checked it both ways with very little difference. I figure it's safer to check it in Park, (with the parking brake on, of course).
The temp of the fluid makes a much bigger difference in the stick reading than Park and Neutral.

i changed my radiator cap from that stock piece to a new locking aftermarket type and it fixed that steam leak. i thought it was water or rain to but it was not.now i don't get anymore unwanted steam try this and let me know if this fix works?
