Ya but reading through the threads "racinjimy" did this and he never mentioned having to flair it....I wonder if it would be ok to crimp down without a flair? Don't want to buy a flairing tool for 1 job and never use it again..

Wouldnt chance it, when it easy enough to flare it. If you just try an clamp it without flaring an using the Aeroquip Connectors I believe it will leak after time. If you are seriously debating cutting off the factory crimp fittings then you should def. go the extra step an flare.

I didn't flare mine and I haven't had any problems. That's not to say that I won't, but so far so good. I did use fuel line clamps on mine where the new rubber lines connect to the factory steel lines just as a precaution though.

Go to an auto parts store that lets you borrow tools for free. Advanced Auto Parts around here does that. Use a 3/8s flare.

I installed the 70266 today. I deliver mail so I'm idling or crawling all day. Thanks for the write up Paratus13!

If you have an AutoZone near you, try them too. I borrowed a flaring tool for free from them when I had to repair a broken hard brake line.

Just installed a cooler this last weekend. It was easier then I expected it to be.
