Great write up. I used this to do my cooler install. I ended up routing one of my hoses a bit different but other than that this was a great guide to get it done. Thanks!! JOE>

How much fluid did you have to add. Must you purge the system of air ? Or does it self prime.
This is on my short "to do list", just growing a set before trying it.

It will self purge. Mine took about 3/4 of a quart to get to the bottom of the 2 full hot holes on the dip stick.

Mine took about a half a quart to get to the 2 hot holes.

I had to add 1/2 a quart aas well. Did anyone else use different hose than what came with their kit? I found alot nicer hose at the auto parts store than what was with mine. They had high pressure tranny hose, it was quite a bit stiffer and harder to route but it will fight collapsing more. Just curious. JOE>

So you guys that added one pint of fluid only, are saying that the cooler and extra line only hold one pint of fluid ? Just seems so little.

I used a differnet hose that was stiffer, I got it from NAPA.

Yeah that was all I added. Very little fluid fell out when I cut my line.

Anyone put in a temp gauge?

I finally added a cooler to mine. I am going to be towing a small trailer for camping so i did not want to take any chances of burning up my transmission over time.

Thanks for the write up. I just ordered in a couple 70264 coolers (it's the thicker version)

I'll be putting them in on Friday probably.

Has anyone bothered to install a temp guage on the transmission fluid output line ? In my opinion, THIS is the important spot to have a guage, as it's going to show the actual transmission fluid temp, not the temp after it's been passed through a cooler.
