see my prior post, RTOM then, well, ur guess is as good as ours!

technically speaking, the cooler must be proven to be the cause of failure for failed item to not be covered.

I talked to my dealer before I installed mine, He said it was a good idea and it would not void my warranty. You should have no problem with a warranty issue on the trans.

IMO..The Auto's should have come with a Transmission cooler from the factory. I will be installing one this weekend. Due to larger tires coming next week. Still on 3.73 gears right now. Will switch out to 5.13's in a month or two. Warranty void or not it's getting a cooler.

of course, there's the idea that a tranny cooler should help PREVENT a warranty claim altogether! (and a potential breakdown!)

I'm just debating mounting it close or far from existing radiator.

Advantage of close: you get cooling effect from electric fan which is critical when trail crawling at low speed.
Disadvantage of close: might be hard to clean mud from in between the coolers.

Thanks for the info. I'll be installing mine this weekend as well and will install with a gap in between it and radiator.

My Jeep is in the hospital right now due to no tranny cooler. The dealership said nothing of why the thing is shifting like crazy as I drive and has nothing to say about the BURNT ATF either! Except of course that it'll be $200 for a tranny service. So I did a little research earlier and found that Chrysler will be issuing a recall on Wranglers with auto trannys 07-08 due to danger of ATF BOILING over and causing vehicle fire!!! Solution: equip the vehicle with a warning on the cluster that says hot oil...... sounds like a good fix to me!?!?

Thanks for the write-up. I finished the install and I couldn't have done it without this thread.

Thanks to All

The AeroForce gauge reads transmission temp through the OBDII port, along with many other interesting things.

Or, you could install a gauge with a temp probe in the transmission pan.

Just got done with mine, thanks for the write up. I just used the plastic zip-ties because i didnt feel like drilling and painting etc. I like the clean look it has with the zip ties. Doubt the ammout of mudding i do that I should have any problem with mud getting in between there.
