I tried to skim the thread for this answer but didn't find it... By cutting some of the metal bumper will this cause any problems when I buy an aftermarket bumper? Thanks

Someone else may correct me on this but I believe most aftermarket bumpers mount directly to the frame rails, not the steel sub-bumper. so cutting it shouldn't affect the mounting of an aftermarket bumper.

I just did a chop on mine and i only took off about 3-4 inches from each end.

The newbie that I am spoke before taking a good look at my bumper... Your right, I would remove that metal piece anyway when installing an aftermarket... Thanks joe

I am almost done with my stubby, but have looked everywhere for 1 inch rivets and cant find any. I looked at Lowes, Home Depot, Ace. Anyone have an idea where I could find them. Also do tthey really need to be a full inch long?
GOT IT TO WORK WITH HALF INCH RIVETS. LOOKS AWESOME

I plan to do this but had trouble getting the plastic bumper off. One of the inserts spun so the bolt wont back out. I assumed that once I deal with the insert it will flip over the tow hooks and come right off. Is this correct ? Do the fogs need to be removed or will they come out with the plastic? With all of the great write-ups no one has discussed the removal process.

Any ideas for the spun insert? All help appreciated.

Unplug the fogs, take off the 8 nuts that hold the hooks to the frame, the bumper comes off with the hooks. The spinning nutsert can be juiced down with a little penetrant and held with needle nose visegrip pliers, sometimes a bear, be patient. Easier to do when the bumper is off and on horses....
