Hey guys, I'm planning on painting the sides of the center stack, the speaker grills in the soundbar, and the subwoofer grill. I'm ordering 12 oz bottles of mango tango, and wasn't sure how much to order. Also, is there a writeup somewhere on removing the sides of the center stack?

Heres the best pics i can find. They each have 3 bolts on center stack and require you to remove the stereo first

Did the same 'upgrade' on my vent rings, except my JK is Stone White - so I used that and I agree it looks good, seem to get the "does it come that way from the factory" question a bunch.

So I tried going through the 40 something pages to answer this question before I posted it... I guess I'm the only noob on the site to never paint a thing in his life.

I'm thinking about doing the vent rings in rescue green... Do I just get the Rescue Green spray can from the dealer and spray 3-4 coats? Or do I have to sand the rings down first before I spray them?

Ive never painted a thing in my life, so I don't know when sanding applies or doesnt apply.

no worries man, best way to do it since they're plastic is just scuff them up with a red scotch brite pad, don't rub super hard or anything and just wipe them off with alochol, paint thinner, brake cleaner, or whatever you have readily avalable to take the oils from your fingers off and the dust from sanding. Then spray 1-2 light coats of Adhesion Promoter, this will help the paint stick to the plastic. Then wait the time it says on the can (it's not a lot) and spray 1-2 light coats of the color you're using and then one final coat that's a little thicket than the other 2 coats. You can spray 1-2 light coats of clear on after this to make sure it stays permanent and can be cleaned easily. The last step isnt necessary but I always do it anywasy. Finally let them dry and put them back on and you're good to go. hope this helps.

Anyone do this mod to the dash on the 2012 JKU? I've been looking everywhere and cannot find pics or a write-up.

thanks,

Ryan

^ yeah, did mine. rotate the vent till the hole is about at 1:00. then put screw driver in and rotate to 12:00. vent will come out. the door handles and grab bar are just pinned in.
