Yea, there is no doubt about all the details! Nice job..

On another note, I was wiring-up my CB today and located the factory Infinity AMP under the steering column. I wonder if we could just replace that AMP and place it in the same location? Has anyone tried this?

I did today. Not gonna happen with most amps. There are a few amps out there with an uber small footprint but you are going to pay out the arse. The infinity amp is very good read my thread over here about it.

Looks good!

How does it sound? Do you think your setup is limited by the factory enclosure?

Wow, very nice you certainly know much more about electronics than I do. I think I will do this sub MOD, how does that new SUB sound now?

Thank you. It pounds. The amplifier is way more power then the sub needs, in fact I have the gain turned all the way down.

The subwoofer is not limited by the factory enclosure, I believe its about the right size for most 8" subs. So choose your favorite. Make sure the backspacing is adequate. I would not go over 4" unless you space it. As you can see you could space that sub an additional inch because its recessed so deep. This is great because it gives you lots of room to work with.

Everything I used for this install was in my garage. I am very blessed and my garage is setup pretty nice. I have installed dozens of stereos into trucks, jeeps, cars, etc.

Sound is great. It pounds for an 8 inch. I plan on replacing all my stock speakers with JL Audio and retain the factory infinity amp. The amp is quite capable of pusing high end speakers. Check out my thread https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30571 I have done a LOT of research, most will be pleased with the performance.

I'd be interested in a little more information.

Is the stock sub a dual or single voice coil?
Is the W3 you're running a dual voice coil?
Where are you getting the signal for the amp?
I take it you had to run a new line for the amps remote turn on?
Isn't the stock amp powering the sub at 2 ohms?
On another thread a guy using the same sub as you said it didn't fit without using cork board to space it out. Any info on this.

Thanks

Sorry for all the questions

What he said! Great write up. I put some JL Audio 12's in my nephews Jeep (then his Blazer after he rolled said Jeep) and I love them. I think I would definately like to do this mod someday. I wish I really knew what the difference it made. Can you guesstimate the increase in performance for us? Like 30% more bass, etc. Great work man! You and DB8888 are the write-up kings!
