Smile Oil pressure Gauge install - Hunty

I threw a big end bearing 6,000miles ago and Jeep rebuilt my engine under warranty - I suspected it was an oil pressure / feed prob but the guys at Jeep service didnt - so less than 1000miles later threw another big end bearing - thankfully Jeep gave me another short motor and this time fixed the oil problem! under warranty !!!!!!!

So I decided at the very least I should keep an eye on the oil pressure!

1. spent too long looking around under the JK bonnet for the sender.
2. Gave up because;

a) - didnt want to disconnect the factory sender. - do want to get any factory alarms
b) - didnt want to put a Tpiece on the factory sender - wouldnt fit either.

3. looked on ebay for a sandwich plate adapter $20 (Ebay UK)

4. simple install - just remove the oil filter and screw the adapter in
5. connect up gauge in cab! - too easy LoL

Added bonus - the sandwich plate adapter has 2 spare connectors - so in future if i wish i can add another oil cooler!
enjoy
cheers Hunty

Great information, and a great addition to your JK

That almost seems too easy, I can't believe JKs didn't have these from the factory

I haven't found the exact adapter. Does anyone know if this one will work?

Can you take a closer pic of the gauge you mounted? I like that location. What pod is it?

Thanks

I have found a couple by Auto Meter but they seem to be catagorized for TJ/YJ model Wranglers only. Has anyone found a JK version?

Hi BTOMike
You have asked a classified question about my secret unfinished jeep oil gauge project - if i tell you the answer I will have to delete you! LoL

Ok its a work in progress - I haven't decided yet if i prefer it on the steering wheel, I may still get an "A" pillar gauge pod. As you can see from the pic its just stuck on now with double sided tape - it is very readable and it is in prominent view - I like that - the bracket is an under dash type upside down
cheers Hunty

Hi Bubba
we dont seem to have as many or as highly strung stealerships in OZ - my regular Chrysler / Jeep service guys have seen the mod and like it! - so I trust it won't cause me any greif - anyway mine is a 2007 and it just ran out of warranty anyway!
cheers Hunty

ps
they have also seen my lift, tyres, bars etc - and have been relaxed about them!
