Lightbulb No-Door Mirrors

I made mirrors for my JK with the doors off. They work super and only cost me $35 to put together. (Not including paint I had)

There is a "mini" write-up at the bottom, but I only have pictures of the final product.

Here are a few pictures:

Parts list:
1) Two mirrors from VIP. It says they are "universal" mirrors, but also mention some older year Ford pickups.

2) Two pieces of grey PVC 3/4" offset conduit from the electric aisle at Lowes.

3) Two 1.5" 5/16 bolts. (also Lowes)

4) Two plastic knobs. (again, Lowes)

5) Two 1.5" half curve "specialty bolts." These are the kind on the metal frame of your snowblower or lawn mower. Check the pictures. (Yup, Lowes)

Construction:
1) On each end of the PVC pipe, drill a 3/8" hole all the way through.

2) Cut a 2.5" long slot in the pipe on only one face, from the end. This should be 3/8" wide when it is cut. I used a Dremel, but I suspect there are better ways.

3) Paint it all the color of your choice.

4) Assemble as shown.

Comments:
1) Next time I may get just a piece of the 3/4" conduit and make it more like 10" long as opposed to the 6" it currently is.

Very stable when driving and super easy on and off. Best of all it is cheap and easy to build!

I had thought of doing the same thing. But as much as I drive w/ the doors off, I opted for the Rugged ridge Mirror Locators....

Backorder, as always.....

How's the view of the passenger side mirror? Does the dash block much?

Here are some pics from the drivers point of view. The Passenger mirror is pretty easy to see, but a bit low. Next time I do this, I will likely use a fitting with a 45 degree bend to get the mirror closer.

Interesting how every place is out of these things... I hear that its early June before the container gets to American soil. $#%#$%

Sorry, VIP is an auto parts store here in NH. I suspect anything like Pep Boys, AutoZone and the like will carry something along these lines.
