Default New Winch and Bumper install

My BullDog winch and bumper arrived well packaged and undamaged.

The workmanship and finish on the bumper was flawless.

All the mounting hardware was nicely packed and all there, all I needed was a Phillips screwdriver, and 10, 12, 16, 18 and 22mm wrenches and sockets.

The driving light holes had blanks for JKs not equipped with them.

The bumper mounting bolts were welded to a plate and held in place with a 3/8" pin to make installation easier.

First remove the air damn under the bumper amd the filler between the bumper and grill, I found that a valve core removal tool (pointed end) works great to get the plastic expander screws out.

Next remove the four bumper mount nuts and plates from each side. Before removing the last two nuts unplug the driving lights (if equipped) and lossen the wiring from the bumper.

Then remove the driving lights from the old bumper.

Use the screws that held the blanks to install the driving lights.

With the driving lights in place place the new bumper in place and start a nut on each side to hold it in place.

Use the flat and lock washers under each 22mm nut to secure the bumper to the frame.

Now to install the winch into the bumper, be sure to install the ground wire to the bottom of the winch motor before placing winch in bumper. The winch is the 10K model, I really like the solenoid housing and stainless steel hardware.

Four 16mm bolts secure the winch to the bumper from underneath.

The fairlead is held on by two 18mm bolts.

Pull the cable through the fairlead and secure the hook and line flag.

Run the power cables directly to the battery 10mm negative post 12mm positive post.

The winch controller connects at the top of the winch and has a lock witch holds it firmly in place.

After testing the winch it was time to install the skidplate.

The front bolts to the bumper with five button head allen bolts.

The rear bolts to the air damn mount with four 16mm bolts.

Besure to use the large flat washers supplied in the hardware kit as the holes in the air damn mount are larger than the stand flat washers.

The bumper came with a nice light bar which I opted not to use since I'm not going to run any extra lights.

The fit and finish of the winch and bumper are excellent and was very easy to install, it can be done in less than two hours by one person.

Looks great, I like it!

Do you have any experience with these winches before? If not, don't forget to report back on how you like it.

That's what I thought too, but I think this is a different bumper. Easy to get confused though.

I can't post that here as it is against the forum rules.

I think the bumper it'self is about the same weight as the OEM bumper.

I like it, I wasn't going to run a winch, but I may be changing my mind!
