Manual Transmission Breather Extension Write-Up

Manual Transmission Breather Extension Write-Up
There are plenty of threads on extending lines but I haven't seen a good one on a manual transmission. I just did mine, so here goes.
First a trip to the auto store and home depot.
Supplies:
7' of 5/16'' fuel line. For the manual transmission, 7' is plenty to bring it to the firewall.
hose clamp to fit the fuel line
3/8'' brass 'L' fitting
JB Weld
Tools:
screwdriver
allen wrench
Dremel
Take the brass fitting and grind around it with a dremel to thin out one tip. This is so it will slide and hold inside the breather nipple.
Attach it to the hose with the clamp.
Remove 4 allen screws holding your center console. One is on the side below the shifter, the other on the sides behind the front seats.

Now remove your shifter knobs. There's no magic here, just pull like you mean it.
Lift your ebrake as far as you can. Remove the outer boot by prying it up, there are just a couple clips holding it down. Lift to remove the console from the back, up over the ebrake. Look and reach under the console as it's being held up to disconnect one power connection. Then continue to lift and slide the console to the rear and out.
Lift the inner boot up to see the breather hole. Slide your hose down the passenger side of the transmission to the ground. Put the fitting in place to see it fits properly. At this point, I fished the hose to the engine bay where I wanted it. This helped hold the fitting in place for the JB Weld to set.
Pull it out and aside and clean the breather nipple with some cleaner and a rag so the JB Weld will hold! I used mineral spirits.
Mix your JB Weld and smear it around the brass tip and slide it in place. I used some tooth-pics to smear extra and clean up the connection. Let this sit for a few hours. I let mine sit overnight. This isn't something you want to break loose and have to do again. Gently finish up putting your hose in place and re-assemble your console.
Now get it wet!

How difficult was it to get the center console off and how long did it take? Thanks for the write-up by the way, awesome. Why in the heck does Jeep just do this at the factory, so much senseless damage has been caused by these stupid values.
