Installing Cruise Control
#131
Great write-up on the cruise control install. You made it easy. But, now my dash lights up with ESP BAS and the ESP "you're skidding" symbol whenever I start up. I can turn the "skidding" symbol off with the dash switch, but the ESP BAS stays on. Anyone here have a fix for that? I'm sure its simple.
BAS/ESP and traction control light started coming on after starting and moving the Jeep. Dealer put a scan on it. Turned out to be a brake switch sticking, which was confusing the computer.
In addition to esp/bas, others have had the airbag light or cruise control light on and/or horn going on/off and it turned out to be the clockspring. I've heard that it can be damaged when doing the cruise control install.

Unrelated to cruise control, the esp/bas can also come on when out of alignment I think.

I was getting ready to order the cruse parts and I stumbled across two different part numbers for the cruise control switch.
Check out the pics.... The AA part number that is sold as part of the kit retails for $10 and the AB part number that is the direct replacement retails for $22. Does anyone know the difference between these two cruise control switches?

thanks so much for this write up. Everything was installed in under an hour and works great. I wouldn't even had attempted this if not for the step by step picture directions ( I'm not very mechanically inclined to say the least)

Cruise Control Installed
With Many Thanks for the original post!!!!
Bought the parts for USD 57.51. Paid USD 55.00 for shipping. And 30 Euro for VAT and clearance.
Taking the airbag off was a bit of wrestling, but it worked. From then on it was a piece of cake. Followed the instructions and used the pictures.
When completed only found that the horn is stuck when I push on the bottom part, it releases when I push the top. If I just push on the top there is no problem.
Oh, and I find my horn sounds really much louder now...... weird he!!!
Bye, bye!!!

thanks to the OP for the detailed instructions. I had a loose steering wheel and was able to pop the airbag off in seconds, tighten the nut and then replace the airbag and done! Thanks for details

Just installed mine and cruise works fine. Horn however is an issue. No horn now. When I reconnected the negative battery cable the horn blasted non stop. I pulled the right and left fuses and then reconnected the battery. Jeep runs fine with no error lights on dash
so I don't think the clock spring is broken. Once I pulled the steering wheel I was extremely careful not to twist anything.
Any ideas guys.
