Installing Cruise Control

Does model year matter for parts?
This is probably a dumb question, but considering I've owned my JK for approximately 51 hours, hopefully I'm allowed one.
I drive 120 miles round trip to work, so cruise control is a must for me. I was disappointed the Jeep didn't come with it, but not disappointed enough to let it dissuade me from the purchase. I'm glad to save the money of the kit ($175) or the dealer (worse...$600!) and buy the individual parts to do this job myself. My Google search took me to chryslerpartsdirect.com, which seems to have good prices for the three parts needed. However, the parts are identified thusly:
4671929AB: Fuel system - Cruise control - Switch Switch, commander, all 2009 - 2010
68003477AA: Steering wheel - Steering wheel and trim - Horn switch - W/cruise control W/cruise control 2007 - 2009
1JM26XDVAA: Steering wheel - Steering wheel and trim - Rear cover Rear cover 2008 - 2009
My Jeep is a 2007 model, which if the years listed are correct, means I'm only good for one of the three parts. None of the posts mentioned what model year they were working on. I deduced from this that a JK is a JK, i.e., the parts will work for 2007-2010. I would feel much better about ordering the parts though if somebody could first confirm this!
Thanks,

Just question. Do I need a leather wrapped steering wheel for this mod? Or are same, leather and non-leather steering wh. ?
Parts catalog says:

1AF071J8AB ........[JJ] Leather Wrapped Steering
Wheel with Speed Control

Installed!
I installed mine today on my 2007 X Unlimited. I ordered the parts separately, and the part numbers listed in this thread worked for my '07, despite what some uninformed dealers told me. I figured all the kits said 2007-2010, so the individual parts should work for all years. Total cost was $65.17, including shipping, from www.moparpartsamerica.com. Here's the order info:
Part number Part Description Price
4671929AB Fuel system - Cruise control - Switch Switch, commander, all 2009 - 2010 $14.04
68003477AA Steering wheel - Steering wheel and trim - Horn switch - W/cruise control W/cruise control 2007 - 2009 $37.32
1GA31XDVAA COVER STEERING WHEEL $3.86
Sub Total $55.22
Shipping $9.95
Total $65.17
It took me about an hour, which included making the tool to unhook the air bag, and a couple of interruptions from the kids. Everything went back together and worked perfectly! This will make my 120 mile round trip commute much more pleasant. Thanks to everyone for their helpful tips.

20 minutes and $20 bucks buys cruise control and more....
I did this upgrade tonight and it took about 20 minutes of my time and cost me $20 bucks....actually $21.86 with tax.
How?
Called a couple of salvage yards and found a Khaki interior, 2010 Wrangler like mine that was totaled and then I bought the leather wrapped steering wheel with cruise module, harness, and steering wheel back cover for $20.
All I needed to do was go home, pop off my steering wheel and pop the ready to go leather wrapped, cruise equipped steering wheel on, hook up the three connectors and torque it down. It honestly took 20 min. Part of the reason for the quick swap was the fact that my replacement steering wheel was ready to go and also the great pics in this thread made popping off the air bag a no brainer, piece of cake. Thanks for the great pics!
I would suggest to anyone doing this upgrade that they should rotate the steering wheel as they pop the metal air bag loops off the hooks. Rotate the hook you are working on up so that it faces the ceiling then leaver it off. Be careful not to have your screw driver hit the clear plastic lens that covers your instrument panel when you do this though, you could damage it. I didn't have a problem with this but I could see where it would be easy to have the screw driver get away from you and hit the lens. Also the hardest part of the whole ordeal to me was getting the steering wheel loose when removing it....it tooke me about 4 or 5 minutes to gently work it back and forth as it "walked up the steering shaft" and finally came off.
So any of you wanting to do this upgrade.....it's way easy and I'd recommend that before you spend $70+ bucks on parts or $220+ on the Mopar kit you should do like I did and call a salvage yard or two you might get cruise, and a leather wrapped steering wheel to boot for next to nothing!
