Default How to remove water from your Jeep.

Though this might be helpful for those of you not prepared and caught in that freak storm. (like I did today in TX)

There are 12 drain plugs in your Jeep.

4 in the forward foot wells.
2 under the front seat.
2 under the rear floor.
2 under the rear seat.
1 in the storage well.
1 in the jack storage well.

There are 4 pieces of carpet in your Jeep.

1 drivers side.
1 passenger side.
1 rear passenger seat/under front seat
1 cargo compartment

*there are side wall cargo pieces but they will not need to be removed.

Take out all the carpet. All is removable without removing seats. The only thing you may need to remove is some plastic gray retainers in the front wheel wells and the subwoofer in the rear compartment.

I then used a wet/dry vac for water that was standing.

Nice write up. Did your YES seats get soaked or did they repel most of the water? I never take my hard top off because I'm afraid this will happen. Have you had any electrical problems?

Yes essintials soaked up the water like a sponge. Its still draining as I speak.

No electrical problems yet. I left the radio off during the drive home. This water is from a total of 2 down pours. One while I was at work. and one while I was driving home (15min commute) I could not believe this happened I was so upset but then when i started to drain the water it wasnt that hard.

You should not have any electrical problems unless you really let water get into the dash and even then I dont think it will be that bad. I have it in the garage right now wringing out.

What????You aren't a true Jeep owner until you get hit with the elements while top is off. Last year, I got caught in about 6 inches of hail with the top off. That was a mess.

Well heck, while you are washing and drying the interior, you might as well finish detailing the rest of the Jeep...

Are you thinking Line X?

Would love to but there isnt a LINEX dealer here. I would only use line x all the other covers are junk. I had line x in my truck and will never use anything else. But if I did I would only line x the areas where the lower sections of carpet are. Much like permanent weatherguard mats.

That sucks dude.I guess its a good reason to leave th carpet out & get water proof seat covers(or trash bags over the seats). Nothing like seeing a 30,000 rubi running down the street with trash bags on them Hope it Dries out for yah alright

My sons b-day party is tomorrow so I will be with him all day but it would have been nice to take him on a trip in the Jeep. He loves it! But that will give me a day to get the thing wrung out "so to speak".
