Just did this on mine, after a couple nice semi-induced lifts on the freeway. I did both the spring removal and the hose installation. To me it looks like with the way the hood/seal shape is the with the hood down, the sheet metal cradles the hose in such a way that even if it were completely loose, it couldn't go anywhere. I thought about going spring only, but was concerned as it looked like the spring was really the hood's main point of contact for weight bearing, so I wanted to replace that element with the length of hose. Works great.

all you have to do is remove the spring, no need for the hose. i've done it on 2 JK's now, no issues after you remove the spring.

i did this and it didnt work for me. i used high density foam for havc installation. it works a little until i get that 18 wheeler coming at me at 70-75 mph. now i am changing route for another option
