The hood just bounces a bit. The straps hold it closed, so far. I have the hood liner and only get hood lift on real windy days when passing a semi. On my wife's JK without the hood liner the damn thing is always bouncing. It's visually disturbing more than anything.

that brings up another question:

why do some have the hood liner and some do not? mine doesn't have one.

I'm guessing it's the same reason some have a under hood light and foot well lighting, but I don't. I guess Jeep dropped and/or added things as they went along during production.

Has anybody yet tried the old school musclecar hood pins and clips in attempt to fix the problem?

for the hose trick would Gorilla glue be ok or would it ruin the OE stripping.

go for it the oe strip sux anyhow and once ya glue something to it is ruined anyhow
well not really ruined but with the heater hose in place it is better.

i just used silicone and it's been holding a year and a half.

X models did not come with them,my 07 doesn't have one either

I used the Daystar Hood Wranglers on my 08 JK. I was having severe hood lift, but after I installed these new poly straps and now I have zero hood movement! Not a bad mod for $25 from www.quadratec.com.
