Lightbulb Homegrown Cargo Net Tiedown

Homegrown Cargo Net Tiedown

1) 2 x 30" sections of Angle Iron, painted to your liking. (I used Hammered Black)
2) I used some left over weather stripping I had (for freedom top leak) to prevent metal on metal when installed.
3) Used existing hard-top screws to secure it.

This will work great to use a cargo net to hold down all kinds of camping gear. I also installed a D-Ring on driver’s side floorboard.

I will pick up a cargo net later this week and will upload some pictures showing it in use as I am going camping this weekend.

Great another thing to add to my "to build" list, my old lady is gonna kill me!!

One question, what kind/brand of weather striping did you use?

Now if somebody was smart they would manufacture these w/ a tonneau cover for some out-of-sight out-of-mind trunk security. GOOD JOB!!! I would've never thought of that.

very nice, I use a big spider web netting from time to time to cover the entire back and needed just a couple more places to hook it. This might do the trick.

Now that it's warming up in the DC area, I've been thinking about mods and things to do... one of those things is a tonneau cover. Maybe a few felt covered plywood panels to create a "rear deck." Think these rails would be the perfect way to support and lock them in. Thanks for the great idea!

Metro Sponge Supersoft Camper Top Weather-Strip. 3/16" x 1-1/4". I purchased it at Autozone to fix my Freedom Top leak and had some left over for this project.

I filed down the corners and applied two coats of paint, I'm not worried about it cutting me or my dog.

Be sure to post any mods you make to my mod, I'm interested in seeing them.




UPDATE 3/27 - I purchased a cargo net at Harbor Freight for $7.99. It's 4' x 6' and is designed for a trailer. I have also come down with a very nasty flu and will miss this weekend's camping trip, so I will not be posting pictures of it in use as stated above.
