That's pretty slick.
I did about the same thing with my canoe for storing it in the garage.
I still have the winch. The removable shelf is a great idea!!!

Finally got around to finishing this project. I did drop right at $150 at fastenal and then a few bucks at lowes for some OSB and 2x4's. The JK barely fits underneath.

Default Nice work

This is another project I would like to do after I finish my extensive list.
Noticed that some people left the rear glass extended. Does this cause any problems with the hydraulic shocks/strut that hold it open for so long in an extended position. My only reference is my Dad's old belief that it wears them out, I don't know how that would be possible since extended or closed should not make a difference.

thanks

D

Has not been a problem for me so far Once it's resting on the shelf you could always remove the rear hook and lower the glass.

Just a common sense point of view... but I would think the extended strut would be less likely to go bad than a compressed one since it is "unloaded" (or at least less loaded).

struts in storage b4 they ever make to the point of assembly are not kept compressed and one assumes are potentially stored for long periods of time in such a manner without issue....
