Looks good Everyone, and hey Tolh13 did you use those gutter guard things for yours. I just got done doing mine a few minutes ago and it looks awesome, and looks like yours. I baught a pack of 6 three foot long gutter guards for $6.43 at Lowes, a can of rustoleum paint, the zip ties and the zip tie blocks, and basically had to cut 7 individual insert and zip them on one by one but in the end it looks awesome. I actually was hesitant to buy the gutter stuff because its a lot thinner than the expanded aluminum/steel. But after it was all finished i was so pleased. It was thin enough to cut with a hefty pair of scissors but heavy enough to be strong and firm once in place. Plus its galvanized which will help out with the rusting issue. I also like how the mesh is a little tighter knit/smaller holes with the stuff i used. if i ever get my camera working again i'll snap some shots and post em up. thanks for the write ups everyone, they were a big help.


Sorry Tolh13, i just read through the various pages of the thread and found you mentioning along with others that it was the gutter guard... either way, glad to hear its holding up well...

 

Thanks for the tip on the zip tie cube. Looks great. Would look great on any jeep

Yeah, I got the same stuff, except for the blocks.
Ok, every place I go looks at me like I have an arm growing out of my ass when I ask for zip tie blocks. Does anyone know where in Lowe's or Home Depot they are? The zip tie section doesn't have them, so that is out.
I've tried every hardware store, crafts store, and Wal-Mart and K-Mart in town and nobody knows where I can find them. Anybody have any clues?

 

I got mine at the Home Depot right next to the zip ties in the electrical section.

 

Company I work at makes those. There are literally thousands in bags and boxes in various areas of the building.
I don't know exactly what they are either though. I think they call them Ty-Rap Anchors or Mounting Blocks. I'll try to find a part number or ask one of the engineers tomorrow at work.

Only thing I've used them for is mounting cables up under desk tops.

Edit: Well after searching for a min I found them online. Seem to only come in packs of 100 though. I even found black for you guy's.

I did find them, in black, in packages of 8 for $1.39 (or packages of 100 for $9.50), at Home Depot. The only reason I found them was because I found out on their website that they actually carried them, and had a SKU. Then I had to call the store, and finally one of the guys in hardware remembered that they also have zip ties in electrical. Apparently having the same thing in two places is a good idea, especially when there are different things in the two places.
However, it is done now.
