You're going to want to slide your hand from the left to the right, and that latch will shift to the right and unlock itself to release the hood.

In the past year since doing this mod, it worked very well, but I did have one occasion where airflow was an issue after a run. There was a pile of mud that impeded the airflow, and as a result, the temp gauge was getting up into the red zone. I had to pull over, and pull the stainless insert out (the greatest benefit of this method of insert is that the one piece requires no fasteners), and tossed it into the back of the Jeep.

I suspect that without the grill insert, the radiator fins themselves would have been plugged, and would have been a bigger problem. Just something to be aware of.

Well, did this mod today and was real simple. I picked up this pattern at HD in the dog section. It was a piece that was supposed to be used for a kennel or something. Real cheap and I liked the pattern, plus it was already painted and treated for weather. Hint it will last longer. Nice write ups here, thanks to all.

Default Looks good man!

The open 'honey comb' style you used reminds me of the factory dodge ram grille from the previous generation. That looks sharp man, well done!

Hey brother, I did the same thing!! The dog section at Loews but kept the aluminum finish. If you see my previous post I got a pic. Good job!

This Perforated Sheet Aluminum is called Union Jack. I did not know the name until I found it on McMaster- Carr. Expensive too! Well, mine came from collecting dust in the attic, I think I have another sheet. It's 40"x30 anybody from local area wants it PM me.
