Being as that I was a bit intimidated by finding the right stuff in Home Deopt, McMaster Carr, and others, I found this item in Ebay : 180400905573 and the cost was $46.00 delivered.

In the kit was this:



This was the supplies needed as well in the picture.

The kit came with the mesh grille inserts, the pre-stuck anchors , and the plastic Ty-wraps. I did take off all of the cheapo foam sticky pads and replaced them with heavy duty 3-M double sided Heavy Duty sticky tape.






Then the install, and finished product:










Now it looks much nicer and finished in the front grille area, I think it goes well with the Stainless Bumpers

 

Awesome mod! I'd been wanting to get grill inserts, but definitely didn't want to dish out the hundred bucks or so to get it...going out tomorrow to get the goods! Thanks for sharing

 

Wow this looks great, another weekend mod to add to the to-do list.

 

My son and I decided to try the plastic mesh route this weekend. Was much easier than I originally thought, and looks much better than stock. We'll have to see how it holds up to a Nebraska winter though - the mesh feels as cheap as it was. But it's hard to go wrong with a sub $20 mod that looks so much nicer!

will have to do once jJeep gets out of body shop. like the looks but did not want to spend $100.

 

If my mesh doesn't hold up, I think I'll go with what ROck used. I really like that honeycomb look.

 

Cool idea. I did mine similiar with little lighter weight material it's what they use on fireplaces to hold the rock up. (i think) You can get it in 30"x 8' so you'll have enough to do 3 or 4 grills and it's only $10. (any lumber or hardware store) It contours to the grill better so you won't flatten it.

 

That's not a bad idea either. I'll have to look at lumber store first. But, so far, the mesh is still okay. Wish it was a little more rigid though. Oh well. Still can't beat it for the price.

If your going to do this in one piece of metal what is the minimum size you need? All I can find local is 12 x 24 and without yanking the grill I don't know if this will work.

 

15" x 28" is what i used, but it had a little overlap on the edges for the zip ties. I think 24" would be a little short
