I love how us consumers on here are taking the task and doing this for less than half of what quadratec is selling this product for! I will be doing my "custom" grill insert very soon!

Really liked the look of the perforated stainless steel in brattwurzt's grill mod. Using the template sketch and his excellent write-up, I got a piece cut to size (using brattwurzt's template sketch above) for $30, used a break at a friends workshop to make the 4 bends, and straight snips to cut the necessary slots (there are definitely more than in his initial template sketch - just lined up the steel, used a sharpie to mark where I needed to make slots and snipped). The perforated steel isn't really easy to cut - but not bad.
Since taking the pictures below, I pulled the grill mod out, and put a gentle curve to the front - which makes the steel sit more closely to the back of the grill.
