i have fabricated a stainless grill myself for only 15 bucks from a DIY shop thats sells heater grills. they look fantastic

I love how us consumers on here are taking the task and doing this for less than half of what quadratec is selling this product for! I will be doing my "custom" grill insert very soon!

 

Well I doubled up on the "grill mods" I did the bedliner and today I setup the inserts. The white flecks you see aren't dings, just dust and bugs.

 

Really liked the look of the perforated stainless steel in brattwurzt's grill mod. Using the template sketch and his excellent write-up, I got a piece cut to size (using brattwurzt's template sketch above) for $30, used a break at a friends workshop to make the 4 bends, and straight snips to cut the necessary slots (there are definitely more than in his initial template sketch - just lined up the steel, used a sharpie to mark where I needed to make slots and snipped). The perforated steel isn't really easy to cut - but not bad.

Since taking the pictures below, I pulled the grill mod out, and put a gentle curve to the front - which makes the steel sit more closely to the back of the grill.

 

I like the looks of mod plus the advantage of stopping a rock from getting into the radiator. Nice job...

 

Nice Mod! Now on my to-do list.

 

Thats really cool looking, but at what point does the restriction of airflow become an issue? How much air do we really need? I know that we have grills for a reason, but how will air blockage affect the vehicle?
