Got mine done about a month ago... Quite satisfied with the results and the price can't be beat. Wondering if those zip tie blocks are going to hold over time. Keep checking them and so far they're still sticking. Made quite an effort at surface prep 1st tho'...

Nah hot glue gun straight to the grill works great. Mine has had no issues in rather extreme conditions here in the desert. 110 degrees in the summer to the teens in the winter and no probs at all.
theres a pic of mine in my gallery link.

Where did you get this metal? It looks like stainless, with oval holes?

Grant 211, I don't think the hot glue is a problem for removal. It is heat activated so just applying more heat will soften the glue again. In fact, I'm kind of surprised that the hot engine and hot summer sun doesn't loosen the glue. But it sounds like that isn't a problem.

brattwurzt,

I got it from a local forum member and I've lost contact with him. I believe he got it from McMaster Carr (www.mcmaster.com), but I've been unable to locate it on their website. They have expanded aluminum sheet available, but it has a diamond pattern.

The stuff I used appears to be stamped out and yes, it has ovals. The metal is aluminum.

Sorry... not much help... If I do track it down, I'll be sure to post it here. I personally like the oval look even better than the diamond shape, although I think both look great.

That's what I used and it worked out pretty well. Only about $25 at Lowes, and a little spray paint.
