Since this thread is alive again. I will recommend glueing the pads down as previously mentioned becuase I have quite of few of them that have popped off now. Since its such a PITA for me to get the grill off because of my bumper/winch I say head off the problem before hand.

 

The plastic gutter guard I used was bought at Ace Hardware. It is 6" wide and came in a roll, 25 foot of it. This is what it looks like in the store, I bought the black plastic. If you get the aluminum, be aware primer and paint will not adhere to aluminum without anodizing, chemical filming, or a PAA process.

BTW, 4 months now with the aircraft sealer, those bases aren't even thinking about coming off.

Has anyone done this mod using window screen?
The gutter guards I've seen comes in that roll, and since I already have some black screen rolled up in the garage, I might attempt this.

 

Put mine together last night let the gorilla glue dry overnight and got it all back in place this morning. Looks great and probably one of the cheapest mods to date beside the drilled mirrors. Thanks to the person that came up with the idea. I ended up ordering the black plastic that DB888 suggested. Thanks again

I also used a small spot of (2-part) plastic super glue on each mounting base. I'm hoping that will help with the amount of heat those stickers must tolerate...

I used the mesh material from an expanded aluminum pet screen for a screen door. Perfect size with alittle trimming.

Bright unfinished aluminum, $20 at OSH. Used the zip tie cubes and alittle epoxy. It bends nicely to conform to the grill.

 

Here is mine. I was so happy with the way the look and ease of installment turned out.

 

SFD- What type of mesh did you use? Looks like good stuff. Nice and thin, plus the diamonds go in the right direction. I used plastic but would like to see if what you used is available locally. Thanks!

 

hey i used 7 seperate pieces to put together my aluminum grille screen. ill post some pics tomorrow. i molded them around the shape of the back.
