Grill Mod
#1251
I've got all the parts and I am ready to do this. Has anybody done this mod with a winch still attached? The top of the grill disconnected easy enough but it is a real wrestling match to get the bottom connectors loose, and I fear I might break one or more of them. On the other hand it is a PITA to take the winch off. Advice? My winch is a Warn 9.5 ti. Many thanks.

Maybe you already tackled it Steve, but I just did my wife's and it also has a Warn 9.5ti on it. I did loosen the 4 winch bolts a bit and was able to squeeze the grill off. It was awful tight on those bottom clips, but it came off.

Another alternative for just over $10
Just posted this on another forum. Check it out. It costs practically nothing and has very sturdy mounts. It can be removed without anyone knowing it was ever there. You can paint it, but I didn't paint mine, at least yet.

P.S. No offense, but stickies and gluing on a Jeep is for girls.

{No offense of course},,,,but, around here, I'd be careful on how you classify your use of the word "GIRL",,,Not all of us, are sitting at home, learning how to make paper mache projects. I know plenty of guys, that couldn't figure out how to even OPEN a tool box, much less know how to use the items inside! If the guy used "stickies & glue" for his Grille Mod, let him at least be as proud of his accomplishment, in the same way you are with yours - It was well done, and served it's purpose. You may have found a different way to attach a Grille Guard, but, that does not mean that it's cool to bash another's job, by comparing his job to a girls craft project. {again no offense},,,,,carry on,,,,,

Thanks - I don't think that anybody should be put down for ANY mod - if THEY like what they did, then it's all that matters - I myself did the EXACT same mod, on my '07 grille, and it held up great! It was one of my first Mods and yes, I was just as happy about it - I have learned a lot from this site, and have gotten some super ideas like, drilling the side mirrors to stop the drippy leaks. If SOBERBYKR , was made to feel like his Mod, maybe was not "worthy", because of the way that someone else may have felt about it, he may never post another cool mod -- I think that we should encourage everybody to share what they have done, no matter how big or small - let's not forget that, it not only takes time to take the pictures during the Mod, but to post for everybody to see with the pictures,,,with comments, so others can learn AFTER the mod is finished - nobody deserves to have ANY work chastised, (even if in fun) - In my eyes, nobody is the "king of mods here", {{{{Okay,,,'Way of Life', is pretty darned close! }}}} - we are all in this together -
I must also mention that, the original post was by a new member - I want to make sure that he isn't embarrassed by the other NEWBIE, in the forum as well - even after we become 'JK Super Freaks' with our number of posts, we should remember that, we were ALL here making our first Mods, and our first posts, we were proud (and sort of hesitant), to do both - if somebody had sort of put my first post down, I may have never stuck around, and learned as much as I have, both about Modding up my jeeps, where to get the best parts, where to wheel them, but the best part has been, meeting up with some mighty fine folks as well,,,this would have never happened if I had not felt welcomed here! SOBERBYKER - Welcome Aboard! Stick around - there is a LOT to learn on this website! And please keep up, with posting your Mods!
