I finally did the grill insert mod this weekend. I cut up several 3'-long strips of plastic gutter guard from Lowe's. Painted those with 3 coats of Rustoleum self-priming glossy black. Removed the adhesive from 31 zip-tie blocks with Goo-Gone, sanded them and the grill interior, and then Loctited them in place. Finally, I zip-tied the guards down and voila - a factory-looking insert for about $30 in materials! Now to see how well it all holds up in the AZ heat...

Hey guys I'm interested in doing the grill mod to my Stone White JK however am looking to do something a little different. I was thinking about possibly doing it in a dark red like the attached example picture. I was hoping someone else might have already tried this white and red grill combination and had pictures to share? If not then what are your guys opinions? Good idea, horrible idea, should I just stick with the bedlined grill look?

But I dont like it, so earlier today I started again, replacing the mesh with 14 gauge perferated 3/8 hole steel. I painted it copper. However, its freakin cold to finish, ill put pics up of the re-do tomorrow

This information was priceless. Did my mod today. Easy enough. Toughest part was fishing the zip ties through the mesh.
